Lannha Ha Vu
Tribute
Lannha Vu, 79, of Alameda, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2023 with her family by her side. She was born to the late Ha Ngoc Hoan and Dinh Thi Chu on February 9, 1944. She was fourth in a family of five children. The family was originally from Hanoi, Vietnam and moved to Saigon in 1954. Lannha studied law at the University of Saigon Faculty of Law. She graduated with a Bachelor of Law in 1965.
After graduation, Lannha decided against becoming a lawyer. She obtained a job at Bank of America. Her position at Bank of America helped her family immigrate to the United States in 1975. Lannha spent her entire career in banking, focusing specifically on foreign exchange. In addition to employment at Bank of America, she also worked at Westpac Banking and Bank of California.
Lannha’s greatest joy was time spent with her family and friends. She always accompanied her husband to functions related to the Vietnamese Air Force. She enjoyed numerous meals with friends. During basketball season, you would almost always find her sitting in front of the television watching the Golden State Warriors and cheering on her favorite player, Klay Thompson.
Lannha married the late Joseph Dung Ngo Vu in 1969. After fleeing Vietnam, the family first moved to Oakland, CA before settling in Alameda for the past 48 years. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years in 2021. Lannha is survived by her two children: Mai Bishop (John) of Baton Rouge, LA, John Vu (Liz) of Alameda, CA, and her two grandchildren, Sarah and Jonah Bishop of Baton Rouge, LA. She is also survived by her brother, Ha Ngoc Thuan (Hoang-Nga) of Brisbane, Australia in addition to a host of family and friends.
Our family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice, especially Linda and Juliana, for their amazing care of our mother. They treated her with dignity throughout the journey of her illness. Our family will always be eternally grateful for their kindness.
Family and friends are invited to attend the services in honor of Lannha at St. Albert the great Catholic Church on Friday, May 26, 2023. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m.
